Welcome to The Orchard Around Us – a photographic social art project about edible trees in Toronto, Canada and the people who live closest to them.
The purpose of this blog is to provide a forum for looking at my neighbourhood from a new perspective. I live in The Junction, a residential area in the city’s west end, just south of the wide swath of train tracks that connect Toronto
to all points west.
Filled with houses built near the turn of the previous century, The Junction is lively with local politics and a strong community of citizen-activists concerned with all aspects of urban sustainability including food security and food justice.
This is a safe place to talk about TREES, FOOD, FAMILIES, NEIGHBOURS, INTERCONNECTEDNESS, SOCIAL PRACTICE, BEAUTY, PORTRAITS, ACTIVISM and COMMUNITY.
